When you book a luxury hotel through GFVR, you pay the same rate as booking directly with the hotel and get breakfast for two, around $100 in hotel credit, an upgrade subject to availability, flexible check-in and check-out and VIP status on top. Preferred-partner programmes make this possible, and only accredited agencies can book them.

What you get with every booking

The baseline that applies across almost all of our partner programmes. Exact benefits vary by programme and hotel, and we tell you what applies at yours before you book.

01

Room upgrade

One category up, subject to availability on arrival, and at some hotels confirmed at the time of booking.

02

Breakfast for two

Daily, for your whole stay. Over a week in a city hotel, that alone is often the single biggest extra.

03

Hotel credit

Typically around $100 per stay, to spend in the restaurant, at the bar or in the spa.

04

In earlier, out later

Early check-in and late check-out, subject to availability. Invaluable after overnight flights and before late departures.

05

VIP status

The hotel knows who you are and what you like before you arrive, and treats you accordingly. Often with a welcome amenity.

06

One point of contact

If something isn't right, you message us. We sort it out directly with the hotel, often with management we know personally.

How preferred-partner programmes work

Major luxury hotel groups work with a select circle of travel agencies. Agencies accepted into a programme can book rooms with their own code, so the hotel sees at the moment of reservation that you're coming through a partner, and attaches the benefits automatically.

The hotel pays for these benefits, not you. It's worth it for the hotel: it gains guests who arrive through a trusted advisor, well prepared, and who come back. That's why these benefits aren't available on booking platforms, or on a direct booking without high loyalty status.

GFVR is a partner in more than 16 of these programmes. On top of that come our personal relationships with general managers and front-office teams, built over years and our own stays.

Benefits vary by programme, hotel and booked rate.

What about your own hotel status?

You keep it. At Hyatt, Hilton, Marriott and IHG, booking through GFVR usually earns points and elite nights just like a direct booking. Your status benefits apply on top wherever they don't overlap: if your status already includes breakfast, you won't get it twice, but you still get the hotel credit and the partner recognition.

Brands such as Four Seasons, Aman, Rosewood and One&Only have no points programme. There, partner benefits are the only way to get more than the room you booked.

Which hotel brand suits you?

Our honest take, from our own stays. In the end, the individual hotel matters more than the brand.

Business and city stays

Mandarin Oriental, Park Hyatt, Four Seasons and The Ritz-Carlton deliver consistently high service in cities, central locations and teams who understand discretion. Ideal when time is short and everything has to work.

Holidays with children

Four Seasons, One&Only and Rosewood run their own kids' programmes and resorts designed for families, without couples feeling crowded out. Partner benefits pay off especially well on family rooms.

Honeymoons and retreats

Aman, One&Only, Six Senses and Capella focus on privacy, villas and few rooms. If you want quiet and can do without a scene, this is where to look.

Character over chains

Relais & Châteaux, Belmond, Design Hotels and Mr & Mrs Smith stand for independent hotels with history, architecture or cuisine you won't forget.

Collecting points

If you hold status with a chain, combine it with Hyatt Privé, Hilton for Luxury, Marriott Luxury or IHG Luxury & Lifestyle and get the best of both.

Not sure?

Tell us where and when you'd like to travel. We'll suggest two or three hotels we know, and tell you which benefits apply there.

What that means over five nights

Five nights at a partner hotel, for two, booked at the flexible daily rate. Through GFVR you also get: ten breakfasts, around $100 of credit once for a dinner or a spa treatment, an upgrade if one is available on arrival, an early check-in after the overnight flight and a late check-out on departure day.

The room rate is the same as on the hotel's own website. The difference is everything you'd otherwise have paid extra for, or not received at all.

Hotel benefits FAQ

Do the hotel benefits cost extra?

No. You pay the same published rate as booking directly with the hotel. Benefits usually apply to flexible daily rates; heavily discounted prepaid rates are mostly excluded. GFVR is paid by the hotel, not by you.

Is a room upgrade guaranteed?

No. Upgrades depend on availability and are usually granted on arrival, though some hotels confirm them at booking. Breakfast and the hotel credit, on the other hand, are a fixed part of the booking.

Do I still earn loyalty points and status?

At Hyatt, Hilton, Marriott and IHG, usually yes: you earn points and elite nights just as with a direct booking, and your status benefits apply on top wherever they don't overlap. Brands such as Four Seasons, Aman and Rosewood have no points programme.

Do the benefits apply to last-minute bookings?

Yes, as long as the room is booked through the partner programme. The earlier the hotel knows about your stay, though, the better your chances of an upgrade.

Which hotels do the benefits apply at?

Hundreds of luxury hotels worldwide, across more than 16 partner programmes, including Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, Aman, Rosewood, Hyatt Privé, Hilton for Luxury, Marriott Luxury and IHG Luxury & Lifestyle. We tell you exactly what applies at your hotel before you book.

Can I book these benefits myself?

No. These programmes can only be booked through accredited partner agencies. You won't get them booking with the hotel directly or through platforms such as Booking.com or Expedia.
